Speaker: Michelle Leahy, Head of Utmost Corporate Solutions
Michelle has worked in the pensions and risk industry for 17 years specialising in corporate pension and risk solutions for small, medium and large multi-national clients through direct and broker / advisory relationships. She graduated from DCU in 1999 with a degree in Financial and Actuarial Mathematics after which she joined Mercer as a graduate trainee actuary. She started working in the Pensions area before moving into consultancy within Mercer which exposed her to client relationship management and business development.
In 2012 Michelle moved to Generali PanEurope as Technical Director for their employee benefits and group risk business line. In 2018 the Utmost Group of Companies bought Generali PanEurope which is based in Ireland. In 2019 it also acquired Generali Worldwide which is located in Guernsey. Both businesses have a Group Risk offering which operates as Utmost Corporate Solutions (UCS). Michelle has recently been appointed as the overall head of UCS (the Group Risk business within the Group).
Utmost companies have a combined AUM of €34bn and a Solvency II book value in excess of €700m. The Group employs 900 people, has 300,000 customers and were recently awarded a Fitch Insurer Financial Strength rating of "A" with a stable outlook. Specifically, in the Irish market, UCS is the Group Risk provider to over 30% of the top 50 companies in Ireland with over 300 clients operating in all sectors of the economy.

Speaker: Liam Connellan, Partner and Head of the ByrneWallace Pensions Team.
Liam is described as an “excellent pensions lawyer, with considerable experience and great attention to detail” (Legal 500, 2017).
He has extensive experience and advises many leading employers, both private and public sector, scheme trustees and individuals. His expertise ranges from advising on the pensions aspects of corporate M&As and reorganisations, drafting and amending pension scheme documentation, restructuring pension schemes, the application of pensions regulatory and tax legislation, trusteeship and scheme governance, to advising on pensions disputes and pensions litigation.
