Subject:  Trustee Training update for Qualified Pension Trustees (QPT) and other professional trustees

Course:   QPT Update

Trustees are obliged to undertake trustee training within six months of their appointment and at least every two years thereafter, under Section 59AA, and for Professional and Pensioneer Trustees, either under the Pensions Act or IORP II provisions.

This course is designed to provide the 2 yearly updates required. It is delivered as a single event over 4.5 hours and provides the requisite recognised trustee training certificate.

CPD:  4 hours will be accredited under a combination of Pensions, Life Assurance, Savings & Investment and Ethics (max 1 hour). LIA CPD accreditation has also been approved. 

Cost:   €250 to include the electronic delivery of the course documents, refreshments including a lunch and a certificate of attendance.

You will be aware that all trustees are obliged to undertake training at least every two years. The IIPM are pleased to offer you the opportunity to update and develop your skills to meet your professional requirements.

The Institute have developed a programme, designed for QPT alumni, and other experienced trustees, which meets the requirements for ongoing training under the Pensions Act.

Principal topics to be covered will be:

  • Reminder of the core elements of the PA syllabus for trustee training
  • IORPS II - Update, Implications for trustees
  • Recent legislation and regulation, court rulings
  • Investment market, developments, ESG etc
  • Regulator's view
  • Ombudsman revised procedures – update
  • Debate on topical issue with ethical connotations

There will be a range of presenters and guest speakers leading the content of the course.

The Programme is also suitable for trustees who have already received training in the area and who have some experience, so you can invite any clients whom you feel would be able to benefit from this intensive level of review.
